MSN launches Maps competitor

posted at 12.05am

Microsoft today (well, yesterday really) officially unveiled their Google Maps counterpart - Virtual Earth. You can take a look at http://virtualearth.msn.com.

First impressions are: pretty odd. It all looks a bit clumsy and confusing compared to the ever-friendly Google. They have also been oddly slated for including the World Trade Center on their maps - but then again it is posted on a Google Maps fansite.

One thing that’s also created a bit of a stir in the blog world has been their apparent virtual ‘nuking’ of Apple’s headquarters. But the conclusion is that the maps, compared to Google’s, are just very, very out of date.
